Rhythm - Capacity of My Life

Rhythm - Capacity of My Life

Small Group Guide

SUMMARY

This week's message opened a new series on Rhythm by asking what our current pace and habits are actually forming in us, using Hebrews 12:1-2 to challenge us to throw off both sin that entangles and things that simply hinder — even good things that are just heavy. The message introduced a "Capacity Audit," walking through attention, body, resources, and calendar as four honest measures of what we're actually available to, since attention reveals our loves, our body reveals our limits, our resources reveal our generosity, and our calendar reveals our worship. The challenge was to stop assuming our rhythms are neutral and start asking what they are costing us and what they reveal about what we truly value.

Main Focus: God has entrusted you with a life, but the real question is whether you're fully available to the race he's called you to run.

ICE-BREAKER

Kick It Off With Something Fun: If someone tracked everything you paid attention to for one full day, what's something they'd be surprised to find out you actually love?

TAKE IT DEEPER

  1. Read Hebrews 12:1-2. The writer distinguishes between "sin that entangles" and "everything that hinders" — reminding us that some things in life are wrong, but some are just heavy. What's something heavy you're currently carrying that isn't necessarily sinful, but might still be slowing you down?
  2. The message asked, "What am I carrying that is costing me the capacity to be who God has called me to be?" What's one honest answer to that question for you right now?
  3. Three questions were offered for evaluating what fills our lives: Is what I'm giving my attention to helping me be who I'm called to be? Is where I'm spending my time helping me be who I'm called to be? Are my relationships helping me be who I'm called to be? Which of those three hits closest to home for you today?
  4. "What percentage of my potential would I like to have available to God?" Most of us would say 100% — but as the message pointed out, that means everything: family, money, ambition, future, attention. What part of that 100% is hardest for you to actually hand over?
  5. Walk through the Capacity Audit together: What gets your first and best attention every day? Are you running on reserves that are already depleted? Has your financial margin (or lack of it) already said no to generosity before your heart even gets the chance to say yes? Pick one of these and share where you land.
  6. "Calendar reveals my worship." If someone read your actual calendar from the last two weeks instead of your intentions, what would they conclude you actually worship?
  7. The message ended with the prayer, "God, I want all my potential available for what you want to do through me." What's one rhythm — a habit, a schedule, a pattern of attention — you sense God inviting you to change this week so that more of your life is genuinely available to him?
